Product Information
- Product Name:
- Jim Ward Victim Button
Product Description:
These buttons come from convention games run by TSR designer Jim Ward, famous for his cheerfully lethal GM style.
If your character died during one of Ward’s events (often tournaments or special convention scenarios), you were declared a “victim” and given a pin. It was half joke, half badge of honor: the adventure beat you, and you lived to tell the tale.
They became a fun bit of gamer folklore. Players would wear them proudly at conventions like Gen Con to show they had faced Ward’s dungeons and paid the price.
Collectors value them today because they tie directly to:
- early TSR convention culture
- the reputation of killer modules and tournament play
- a personal interaction with a major designer
In other words, it’s not just swag — it’s proof you were there.
